MIDI Drum Flams: Quantizing & Nudging Tips
Hi, great channel could you explain the difference between save or save as and where do they go?
Thanks for the tip. So simple, but this is good. :)
Not sure about how trim works in PT but in digital consoles, especially consoles networked through Dante or AES, it acts more like gain. Changing trim won't change the gain settings on the actually preamp but if your sending signal to something like a compressor or reverb, lowering the trim will effect how much signal hits your compressors and/or reverbs. Where as, the fader on the console controls the volume without effecting the signal being sent to your compressors and effects. I.e. eliminating the dry signal while you still here the wet signal. Granted, this is all kinda dependant on if your sends are set up as pre fader or post fader.
Very informative video, thank you for sharing the knowledge!!
TYSM u helped me decide my first professional studio headphones :>
Sweet video. That bass looks like it has a DC offset going on btw!
When I put my midi recording in the score editor it is not accurate to the time signature because of natural pauses in my playing. I'd like to know how to fix that. I imagine I'd have to quantize it. Would you recommend that as the best option?
the diddy laugh absolutely predates diddy kong racing, it was in a hollywood edge sound effects pack that was released seven years before that game and was used in songs/games/movies that predate DKR, and supposedly it was recorded in the 1970s
Very intelligent discussion. Thanks! I've been thinking of using free version just as an online placeholder for songs not completely finished. Not sure if that makes sense now
Hey I loved your review , nice hearing someone being reflective after some real experience and time working on recording and mixing. Thanks!
I Love the sound of ypur voice but what I would have loved even better is the sound of each delay style you so eloquently described in this video.... nevermind, I'll just take my lazy ass over to my DAW, open up a session and try things out as ypu have described...sigh
Now all we need is something to remove demos from UA Connect. :(
i think it was a great video, Cato
I've always wanted to view all pan types at once but never knew there was a way. Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you! ^_^ I hope the video helps
I use a hose crush but. I call it the anal crush. Analogue crush bus
Hi, tell me please, Is there any easy way to create a midi track from an audio track in Pro Tools? I think there is such an automatic function, but I'm not sure. Can you show it? It's not about entering Melodyne. Something simpler. :)
Ah!!!! After upgrading to Pro Tools Studio 2024.3.1, the Grid disappeared and I was searching all over the "View menu" but it is simply on the Edit Window Toolbar! Merci!!
Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you liked it! ^_^
Awesome!
Thanks for films about pro Tools 😊🎶🎸🎹❤️☀️
i think it was a great video, Cato. pretty helpful, in my opinion
Are those Cloth diapers and Baby Wipes on the Couch behind you? Are you a mother or would you like to be?

Nope! Why?

@@zakaroonetwork777 ah, that's awesome! I'm glad the videos help 😊 and nope - not a Sagittarius! Haha
You Should Upgrade your screen capture app to OBS so its clear and in Focus.
I am using OBS. Maybe your internet connection was reducing the quality? I know that happens sometimes
Thanks beautiful, Big help❤
s/o SHFT + CMD + C and SHFT + CMD + V, but nah you’re right. holding option is a million times simpler
Where is it
Can I open Old Protools 8 LE sessions in 2024? I just ffound an old hard Drive I and I want to Remaster old Productions. I havent tryed it yet, because I dont want to corrupt any files.
I'm not sure about that exact combo, since LE 8 was a while ago, but I've opened sessions that were created in older versions of Pro Tools before. If you're really worried, then make a copy, and open the copy. If it opens, then the biggest issue you will probably/definitely run into is that your plugins in your old session will probably be inactive, because they won't work on the newer system.
Proceeds to never playback the audio. It makes me furious, sorry.
At 1:13 I noticed you had a shaded out plug-in.... ?
Sorry another query, with saving presets or saving as for a new preset of a setting.... Does the 'system' auto create the folder within the Pro Tools file structure. What is the method you use for organising, given the context of the question?
Another question. Have you set up presets as instrument specific for initially starting the tracking, edit, mixing; across these stages?
Hi! Ok, so I looked at the shaded out thing - and I think that might just be the blur that I put over the name of the session throughout the entire video. I just didn't delete the blur during that moment when I selected the plugins because it wasn't in the way, haha, sorry for any confusion! For your question about auto-creating a folder - in my experience the system does create a folder for the plugin presets, and there's some variety as to where that folder is placed on your system, depending on your OS, and how the plugin developer programmed it. Sometimes we create a new category for presets, and a folder is created then, and that is done because of a user action, but the system will automatically create the folder when the user creates the new category for preset - does that make sense? For your third question about setting up presets for specific instruments - yes! I've definitely done that in the past, and should probably dig into that more. It's a great way to save some time by getting part of the way where you know you'll want to be, and I would *definitely* do that if working on an album, or if you tend to work on songs with the same or similar instrumentation. Hope this helps - lmk what I missed here and if you want clarification on anything - I'll do my best!
Very helpful! Thanks.
Another (full on speed !!) highly useful pragmatic bunch of tips - obvious but until they are pointed out "who knew".... so most helpful thanks.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked this one! How have you been?
Presets and templates are such time savers. I didn't use them at first when I started out doing the occasional song demo but now that I record and mix on a regular basis, I can't imagine living without them.
😊
Thank you for your help with this.
Glad it helped!
Would had been a bit more convenient just using freeze?
i could not survive w/out the numeric keypad fr
You can also change your keyboard shortcuts to better match your workflow.

Thank you so much for sharing this so helpful
"Disappear it"??? Hun, you really need to brush up on your grammatical FUNDAMENTALS. (SMMFH)
hahahaha, love it! Well, you see, there's this thing called "slang" that humans use with each other. It's often done for comedic effect, or to help put one another at ease. You should try it out sometime! It'll probably loosen you up more than that head shaking. ^_^
@@CatoNoise Son, son, son...that wasn't "slang", that was butchered grammar and you know it; so now, instead of owning the mistake, you're trying to justify it, which serves only to make you look more pitiful. The only "loosening" is the screw in your head. How embarrassing for you...and now I'm shaking my head FOR you.
@@CatoNoise Really? So instead of owning your mistake, you're going to pitifully attempt to pass it off as "slang"? Especially when we both know that it isn't? Typical failed justification of your generation. The only "loosening" is the screw in your head. Now my head-shaking is for your embarrassment.
Q knob can be made dual concentric 'stacked' with another parameter, nice review, thanks!
My favorite things in my studio are my Cigarettes and Ash Tray, at times Coffee.
perfect
Thank you so much for explaining how balanced signals work!
is there a softward that will notate a chord chart while you p lay it?
If you're playing into a MIDI keyboard, for example, Pro Tools will show you the chord at the top of the Edit window as you play it, in addition to having this score editor view.
Do you know a softward, that I play the chord, and it notates it on a chord chart?
Super helpful and right to the point! Thank you! Sub'd
Thank you so much.
Thanks!
